IT Support Engineer - Portland, Oregon

This position is ideal for an accomplished IT technical support, network administrator or systems administrator to take a step up and manage a complex infrastructure and learn valuable concepts in information security and IT management.  This position offers a diverse set of tasks that will provide challenge and opportunity. Responsibilities

• Manage a complex Active Directory network of 30-40 servers.
• Perform routine system administration of Windows and Linux servers.
• Manage network infrastructure: routers, switches, access points, etc.
• Manage security infrastructure: firewalls, proxy servers, intrusion prevention systems, etc.
•  Provide support to customers with security technologies.
• Install, configure, troubleshoot and manage network and security technologies.
•  Work with internal staff and clients to resolve issues.
•  General break/fix support.
•  Document designs, solutions and solutions in a clear and concise manner.
•  Become certified in a number of key technology platforms s.

Requirements

• This is a "hands on" technical position.
• MUST possess at least two (2) years of experience in network and system administration.
• MUST possess advanced experience with enterprise networking technologies, specifically Cisco IOS.
• Solid understanding of enterprise networking, routing and network and application layer protocols.
• Solid experience in systems administration of Windows and/or Linux systems.
• Experience with the following technologies is highly desirable:
  • Vmware and Hyper-V clustering and high availability.
  • Extensive firewall experience, preferably with Fortinet, Palo Alto or Juniper.
  • VPN and remote access technologies.
  • Enterprise endpoint security such as McAfee, Symantec or Sophos.
  • Active Dirctory, GPO and scripting.
  • Microsoft System Center Essentials or similar management systems.
  • Intrusion prevention systems, such as SourceFire, TippingPoint or McAfee.
  • Log and event management (SIEM) such as RSA enVision, Q1Labs Qradar, Arcsight. or similar.
• Strong understanding of information security concepts.
• Ambitious and self-motivated to succeed.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Demonstrated ability to solve complex business technology problems with expertise and ingenuity.
• Professional, "can do" attitude.
• Able to work effectively with a broad range of personalities and people.
• Business-friendly, collaborative and diplomatic.
• College degree preferred.
• Effective time and resource management skills.

• Technical certifications in Cisco, Juniper, Checkpoint, Microsoft, Fortinet and others are a big plus.

Desirable Qualifications

• A college degree, preferably in information systems or business.
• A solid understanding of the information security industry and community.
• Able to work effectively with a broad range of personalities and people as part of a security team.
• Business-friendly, collaborative and diplomatic.
